Season of Lent ~

Homeschooling has been such a ride
so far this year.
You know, one of those
(got that?)
kind of rides.

We are in our groove, we are still figuring
out our girl's best learning style, but
there has been a vast improvement from the
beginning of the year.

The journal I'm using now - purchased with Lissa
We have a daily bible study that is
a part of our curriculum
I want my daughter to develop
a great prayer life, something that I'm really
getting the hang of lately.

I've always been prayerful, but they've
been quick "gimmie"-types.
'Dear Lord, I ask you for ______. Amen'
We always do grace, and while
it isn't the same every time, it is similar each night.
'Thank you for this day _____,
please watch over _____, and
bless this food to the use of our bodies.  Amen'

So, we are carving out quiet time.
We've created a prayer journal.
We needed it.

We take a few minutes in the Word,
with the bible memory verse and then
write a prayer request, a praise and a response to
what we read/learned/feel about the passages we have just read.

In the week that I've been doing it
with her, I've been able to
HEAR the Lord talking to me.
He has taken this opportunity to capture me
and I have taken the NOISE out
my few minutes to LISTEN.
Its crazy what you can hear when you listen....

Now that it is Lent - I think this is the perfect
time to *really* prepare my heart
to fully comprehend His sacrifice for ME.

Yesterday, I started the 40 Days in the Word study
by Rick Warren's Saddleback Church.

The Holy Spirit is present at this church.
It is the church we attended and
were members of 13 years ago
before we were married & in our newly married life.
My husband was baptized there.
My sister is employed there
and my parents are lay counselors for
their premarital counseling program.
Its a special place to us, for many reasons!

I was also looking for something for our
family to participate in, and
my research has come across these links.

I hope you enjoy & they help you!
xoxo

I'm so happy to have a friend with a heart like yours! I need to work better at reading the word/ praying/ teaching my kids! I do it every day with Neal but it's high time to do it with the girls too! Thanks for the subtle encouragement. :)
